Steve began working in the travel industry nearly 30 years ago, having spent his early career working for well-known travel companies, such as USAirTours and Utopia Travel.

In 2012 he decided to take the leap into becoming self-employed and run his own travel business by becoming a Homeworker. Steve said: “When I decided to take the big step of becoming my own boss, I knew how important it was to partner with a travel company that could offer me complete support and more importantly offer my customers 100% financial protection. Through joining Independent Travel Experts (ITE), part of The Travel Network Group, I have access to technology and great commercial deals from 100’s of the world’s best-known and most recognised travel companies.”

He adds: “I don’t believe there is another Homeworking business in the UK that offers what ITE does. It’s great that we, as Homeworkers, remain completely independent as it allows us to compete aggressively against the multiple chains and internet players and give our customers the best deals available.”

After 2 years as being his own boss as Homeworker, Steve was asked to become a Business Development Manager for ITE, an opportunity which he snapped up without a second thought. Steve goes onto saying: “Working with other Homeworkers means I can share my own experience and offer real first-hand advice on how they can develop their businesses, often from scratch. We have a great team spirit in the company and I love seeing Homeworkers build their businesses and become really successful.”

Two of Steve’s personal favourite destinations to travel to are Orlando in Florida and Las Vegas, and one of his favourite bookings was when a lady booked with him to go to the Olympic Lagoon in Cyprus. Steve says the enquiry went backwards and forwards for 3 months, and whilst most agents would have given up due to the length of time it was taking, he was determined to pull off the booking. Steve said that the feeling of satisfaction he got when the lady finally confirmed their family’s holiday was second to none!

He adds that he too loves making his customers’ dreams come true, citing an old friend of his who booked a surprise holiday for her mum and dad with him to Cyprus as a wedding anniversary gift, as the dad had always wanted to go to Cyprus. On their anniversary his friend filmed her mum and dad opening their surprise holiday in the post, and Steve says the look of surprise on their faces was priceless.
